“American Skin (41 shots)” from Mary J Blige ft. Kendrick Lamar

“American Skin (41 shots)” from Mary J Blige ft. Kendrick Lamar

This song was “released” in the final days of October, but since then it has been in and out from the internet because of legal issues, today the song appears again…

The first glimpse we got from this song was unexpected and awkward, this happened during an interview where MJB sang Bruce Springsteen’s classic song ‘American Skin (41 Shots)’ to Hillary Clinton and hold her hand the whole time…

After the interview, rumors kept saying that the song would be officially released and that it will included Kendrick Lamar, well this time rumors were right…  And we got ourselves a new song with MJB and KDOT, previously they worked on the song “Now or Never”, and as expected the track deals with the recent racial injustices and Police brutalities in the U.S, I honestly like the chemistry between MJB and Lamar… I think they both shine without affecting each other… In fact they actually complement each other.

The original version of “41 Shots” was written by  Bruce Springsteen in which he addressed the 1999 New York police shooting death of the 23 year old Guinean immigrant Amadou Diallo.

Quote to remember: “Reverse the love, reverse the hate, reverse the hope, reverse the way we playing sin, reverse the moment, so we can live again, life and times of the American skin”
